Every grant makes a difference

Current projects we need funding for are as follows:

Education for children living with disabilities in Somalia

  • Conflict and famine have made it extremely hard for children to get an education in Somalia, and for children living with disabilities it is even harder. In partnership with local government, AET is working to make schools accessible to children living with disabilities.
  • £10,000 will provide at least 12 schools with ramps, specialist equipment, and disability-friendly educational materials.

Local Language Education in Uganda

  • Ugandan primary schools are overcrowded. AET promotes local language education by training parents to run home-learning centres for children.
  • £5,000 will provide local language children’s books to 50 school communities. This money will also enable AET to replace dangerous paraffin lamps with solar lamps to enable reading in the evening.

South Sudan Appealpost-img2

  • Even with the renewal of conflict in South Sudan, people still have a desperate desire to learn and grow. For many people, increasing their fluency in English, the newly declared national language of South Sudan, is among their top priorities. AET’s radio literacy programme can provide a class of 20 with basic literacy in 6 months, and can be implemented easily within refugee and displacement camps.
  • £4,800 will support 100 learners for 6 months.
